The Last Blog.....Here anyway
I have been sorting out my website over the last few days and it has had a makeover! I will now be posting my blogs on that site and not on this one, so I have not run away, I have just moved....... You can find it at www.ruthburbery.co.uk

I'm back!
Right, I am back! I have not done this for ages, oh dear.
Everything is going well, I have spent the last month or so doing the embroidery on a panel for a group of gynecologists(!) who tour all over the world. The panel dates back to 1950 and has the crest of the city they have been to and the signatures of all the speakers embroidered around it. It is surprisingly time consuming! It is finished now and I am delivering it today, so fingers crossed he likes it!
Now that is over, I am embroidering a barn owl in flight, hopefully it will work as it is rather more difficult than the normal perched birds. I will post a picture if it works!
Proofing James' book has taken a back seat for a while as I have been so busy with my own work, but today I hope to get some done

The Washing Machine......Is Dead
Only a few weeks since the demise of the kettle and toaster, the latest kitchen appliance to break is the washing machine! A new shiny one will arrive tomorrow.
The packs are selling well (which is a good job!) and it feels like the Post Office is my new home. When I have finished making and posting the packs, I have an article to write for a magazine and I have to proof read another of James' books! Maybe I will have to change the name of the blog to Ruth Burbery - Proof reader and Inspiration Pack distributer!! Oh well!

Inspiration Pack Update

I am still getting positive responses which is great and I am sending out another big box full of Inspiration Packs this afternoon!
The very first ones I sent out will be on sale tonight so I am interested to see how they do.
I finished an embroidery yesterday but I think it needs some extra work on one area which does not look right. We shall see!

Inspiration Packs

I have spent the last few days writing to every Embroiderers Guild branch in the UK asking if they are interested in my Inspiration Packs. I have had several positive responses already so we shall see where that leads. Some asking if I would do workshops too, so that is great!
I have been working extra hard today so I can finish a bit early and watch the Six Nations. I can't wait! :@.

Quiet Friday
James managed to get to and return from Newcastle with relative ease, despite the snow and train strikes!
I have been to Port Talbot to teach a group of children which was lots of fun!
I am having a play day today, writing to the branches of the Embroiderers Guild about items I have for sale to see if anything comes of it. I am going to the Guild this afternoon with my Mum which will be fun

Anniversary

It was James and my anniversary yesterday which marked 13 years together. (Hooray!) We managed to find some nice vegan food to bring home so all was very chilled.
Today I finished one of my new embroideries (2nd Hooray!) and James and I are spending the afternoon together because he is going to Newcastle to stay with friends for a few days while I dog sit. It is snowing a little bit with more due tomorrow so hopefully all will be well travelling
I will be having a few days off too so I am not sure there will be any posts for a few days

The Misfortune of the Kettle
Today was a sad day for our kettle.....it is no more.
I am off to buy a new one this afternoon along with a toaster (which one of our cats was sick in!)
It is not a very exciting post I know, but there you are, it is not all exhibitions and sales! Sometimes you have to just go and buy a new toaster!! :@)

Right, I am really going to try to keep this updated!
Since I last wrote I have been proofing James' books, that took until Christmas and finally today the books arrived!!
We spent Christmas with James' parents in a cottage in Ireland.
Since I have been doing no embroidery since the exhibition, it has given me chance to take a good look at my work and I am trying some new things so I can produce some work I am pleased with.
Finally I am trying to plan our wedding! We are hoping for June but my Dad is not very well at the moment so we shall see.
Sorry the blog has not been well kept, but it is short this time and I can do short!
Hope you all had a great Christmas
Ruth
